New Robot Paradigm, Wheels and Legs on the Halluc II

A new robot paradigm is currently in development. Combining both legged robot capabilities with wheeled robot enables this robot to benefit from both types of locomotion without much of the extra burden of either. The Chiba Institute of Technology Future Robotics Technology Center (LED), has developed the “articulated wheel module” using a mobile robot “Halluc II (Two-Hulk)”. Imagine this as a car, a house or  nano-sized building block.
