Metaio Augmented Reality Prototyping
By mixing virtual 3D images with live video stream, augmented reality offers the possibility to check the fit between real parts and virtual prototypes. This video shows the example of 3D brake booster and brake fluid pipes assembled to a real prototype plastic part. Using a digital camera from Allied Vision Technologies fitted on a Faro measuring arm, the Unifeye system developed by Metaio helps engineers visualize the fit between components and identify potential problems even before a physical prototype of the brake system has been produced.

Its great to see the boundaries between reality and imagination becoming so close and intertwined in some cases. This technology will allow for much more detailed testing and analysis of new ideas and components.
